If you run a small business with a low hazard environment the law may not require you to have a qualified ‘First Aid at Work’ person but you must have somebody who will take charge in an emergency. It is recommended that some basic First Aid is given.
This 6 hour course is ideal for the above scenario along with people who would generally like to be more confident in basic first aid. Throughout the course the Instructor will monitor every candidate to ensure they are safe and competent to carry out basic skills.
COURSE CONTENT -On completion of the training, successful candidates should be able to:
Understand the role of the First Aider including reference to:
- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and actions
- Use of available equipment
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer First aid to a casualty who is:
- Unconscious (including seizure)
- Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Wounded and bleeding
- Suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
Suitable for staff who are working in lower hazard environments, where there is a requirement for an appointed person trained in Emergency First Aid at Work.
A great introduction to CPR is Vinnie Jones video demonstrating CPR to the tune of 'Staying Alive' - have a look for yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILxjxfB4zNk. This video has helped to promote the importance of early CPR without giving 'mouth to mouth' otherwise known as 'rescue breaths'. Ask your friends if they know to 'to do a Vinnie'!
